Katriona Guthrie-Honea

Katriona Guthrie-Honea is a self-taught molecular biologist and biotechnologist. She won the Molecular Modeling Grand Prize at the Northwest Association for Biological Research Biotech Expo, for a molecular model of a gene-specific biosensor. When she tried to pursue her idea further she found that labs were unwilling to give her the space she needed to continue her work, often because of her age. The situation prompted her to create HiveBio, a community lab in Seattle that provides affordable, accessible lab space and equipment for bio research and experiments. Katriona was a lab assistant at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Currently, she continues to develop an all-encompassing diagnostics system and recently founded Medi.Rev, a company that utilizes available technology to revolutionize the world of medicine.
