Zineb El Rhazoui is a French woman of Moroccan origin, a human rights activist and columnist for the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. She has published several articles on religious minorities in le Journal Hebdomadaire, an independent magazine that was banned by the Moroccan government in 2010. In 2011, before joining Charlie Hebdo, she participated as co-founder of the pro-democracy movement MALI. After being arrested three times by the Moroccan government, El Rhazoui was forced into exile in Slovenia. In 2013, she participated as a co-author with the murdered editor of Charlie Hebdo, Stéphane Charbonnier, in La Vida de Mohamed, comedic character. In 2015, she received many death threats from supporters of ISIS. She left Charlie Hebdo in 2016, and in 2017, appeared in the documentary Rien n’est Pardonné (Nothing is forgiven).
