Anthropologist, together with wife Leda Cosmides helped pioneer the field of evolutionary psychology. He has a PhD in Biological Anthropology from Harvard University (1989) and is currently Professor of Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Tooby and Cosmides also co-founded and co-direct the UCSB Center for Evolutionary Psychology. Tooby is also working on several projects in evolutionary biology, including a book on the evolution of sexual reproduction and genetic systems that interprets their design features as a series of adaptations to parasitic infections.
