Kim Tan

Dr. Kim Tan began his career in biotechnology with the invention of sheep monoclonal antibodies, a milestone that led to his Fellowship with the Royal Society of Medicine in the UK. He went on to found and chair Malaysia’s NCI Cancer Hospital, expanding his impact on healthcare. In the social investment arena, he co-founded the Transformational Business Network to foster social investments in emerging markets.  

He currently serves as Chairman of SpringHill Management, specializing in biotech and social venture capital, and is a partner in various impact funds, including Inqo Investments in South Africa and Novastar Ventures in Kenya. His philanthropic roles include serving as a trustee for the John Templeton Foundation, Templeton Religion Trust, and the Centre for Enterprise, Markets & Ethics. As Pro-Chancellor of the University of Surrey, Dr. Tan is dedicated to advancing education, social impact, and global health innovation.
