Allen is associate dean and professor in the Sorrell College of Business at Troy University, and Executive Director at Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy. He also is associated scholar with the Ludwig von Mises Institute, policy adviser for the Heartland Institute,  and editor in chief of Southern Literary Review.
