Barry Smith is Director of the National Center for Ontological Research at the Department of Philosophy of the University at Buffalo and the Institute for Formal Ontology and Medical Information Science (IFOMIS) at the University of Leipzig. He has been visiting professor of various universities and researcher in the Swiss National Foundation and the National Science Foundation.
