Chris Berg
Co-Founder, RMIT Blockchain Innovation Hub
Director of Digital at RMIT University and co-founder of the RMIT Blockchain Innovation Hub. He specializes in the intersection of economics and digital technology, focusing on blockchain, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cryptography, and the Internet of Things.
He has made significant contributions to the study of how these emerging technologies are transforming both the economy and society. His research focuses on blockchain governance, generative AI, and the digital economy. In addition to his academic work, he collaborates with private and non-profit sectors to develop solutions for a more efficient digital economy.
Berg holds a PhD in Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science, which provide him with a multidisciplinary perspective in his research and academic work.
He has authored 11 influential books, including Understanding the Blockchain Economy: An Introduction to Institutional Cryptoeconomics (2019) and The New Technologies of Freedom (2023). His most recent publication, The New Technologies of Freedom (2023), co-authored with leading experts, explores the transformative effects of blockchain, smart contracts, AI, and advanced communication technologies on global markets, governance, and individual freedoms.
