James Tooley is the director of the E.G. West Centre and professor of education policy at Newcastle University. Tooley’s work on private education for low-income families in Asia and Africa has been widely recognized. He was awarded the Gold Prize in the first International Finance Corporation and Financial Times Private Sector Development Competition, in 2006.
