Ph.D. in Economics at Washington University in 1984. Chair of the Political Science Department from 2000 through 2010. Former chair of the political science department at Duke University, where he continues to teach political science, public policy, and economics. He has won three University-wide teaching awards, and currently, he is director of the interdisciplinary PPE Program at Duke University. In addition to 200 articles and papers published in professional journals and edited volumes, he has seven books, three of them in collaboration with the late Dr. Melvin Hinich.
