When geometry, algorithms and design meet, they play an important role in the outcome of an outstanding structural design. Ari Kardasis, architect, designer and mathematician, shows a few of his projects involving these three key elements, explaining how geometry and algorithms apply to design, and at the same time, presents the logic behind these plans. Kardasis comments on the use of new technology, such as 3D printers, and provides details on how these machines incorporate, modify and create novel elements. He also shares the research and recent devices he has been working on, pointing out their relevance, both in architecture and in the field of design. Finally, he suggests that innovation, curiosity and creativity are important characteristics in architects who are working on fresh discoveries, with the implementation of mathematical principles and new tools.
