About this video

The fall of the Berlin Wall marked the end of the communist era in Eastern Europe. That is the cause of this celebration in which José María Aznar delivers a commemorative speech seventeen years later. He illustrates the bilateral dialog during the Cold War and comments on the contribution of liberal thinkers as well as other political figures which eventually led to the fall of the Soviet Union. He also mentions some of the challenges he faced as prime minister of Spain and emphasizes the importance of liberal ideas for the preservation of liberty and private property.
