John R. Hébert is head of the Geography and Map Division of the Library of Congress in Washington DC and formerly senior specialist in Hispanic bibliography in the Hispanic Division. He holds a BA in history from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and master and doctorate degrees in Latin American history from Georgetown University.
