Activistas College Freedom Forum Derechos Humanos Human Rights Foundation

In the sixth edition of the College Freedom Forum, held at the Francisco Marroquin University, the Director of MPC and Education Department, Ronald Flores, interviews Chemi Lhamo, a human rights advocate and community organizer.

The interview began with Lhamo explaining how she started as an activist and her journey as a Tibetan in exile. She also shares how her mentors and the community have been instrumental in her growth and the affirmation of her potential.

Activism begins the moment we're born and so when we live, when we breathe, when we act, when we take up space, our existence is resistance.”

Chemi mentions that in 2019 everything changed, because the Chinese government attacked anybody who is a Tibetan that is flourishing, trying to send an international message where anybody who talks or critiques the Chinese government will be silenced.

I am a product of my community, it's the community's resilience that allowed me to rise.”

In Chemi Lhamos final message, expressed that sometimes when you're organizing and working towards a larger goal, it feels lonely, but people know and recognize the work you are doing for freedom and human rights, so they care for your well-being.

You are not alone, there's thousands and thousands of people that are out there praying for your well-being.”

We invite you to watch the lectures and interviews from the College Freedom Forum 2020.
