On the Best Arguments Against Free Market Capitalism (Part II)

New Media  | 05 de noviembre de 2011  | Vistas: 120

On the second part of this conference, Stephen Hicks presents two more arguments commonly used against free market capitalism. He starts by introducing the idea of scarcity, focusing primarily on the natural resources available on earth. He describes erroneous perceptions concerning this topic and develops this issue through a capitalist scope, inclined towards production instead of consumption. The second argument refers to society's deprivation of freedom. Hicks elaborates on the Myth of Gyges to illustrate this misguided belief and discusses the role that the social structure has on individuals, as well as internal factors that somehow, limit their range of action, among others.
