In this interview, Fatimah Azzahra explains the concept of FR-EE City, a design prototype for cities in the world that will adapt to new migration patterns, while embracing the functional structure of free trade zones and startup cities. The urban design method involves large infrastructure frameworks set on a basic, reproducible template that will adjust to rapid growth, remaining ecologically sustainable, and at-pace with the ongoing evolution of new forms of technology. Innovative methods of city geometry and modular building will incorporate the growing population’s need for shelter and basic necessities, including potable water, sanitation, and a clean environment, even in developing areas. By starting fresh and building new cities “from the bottom up”, Azzahra believes we can achieve better living conditions through better design.
