In the seventh edition of the College Freedom Forum, held at the Francisco Marroquin University, the Director of MPC and Education Department, Ronald Flores, interviews Carmen Lau, a prominent figure in the struggle for democracy in Hong Kong.

Reflecting on her journey, Lau describes her innate inclination towards activism, rooted in the generational oppression experienced by Hong Kongers. From protesting patriotic education in high school to participating in major movements like the Umbrella Movement and the 2019 protests, Lau's activism evolved as she transitioned into elected office.

However, Lau's activism came at a cost. She recounts the harassment and surveillance she faced, prompting her decision to flee Hong Kong to avoid becoming another political prisoner. Despite the challenges, Lau remains committed to advocating for Hong Kong internationally and rebuilding civil society abroad.
