Art MPC Student-centered Education

In this conference, a conversation unfolds about the nature and meaning of art. The discussion explores various interpretations and definitions of what constitutes art, highlighting its subjectivity and how it can vary depending on context and perspective. The speakers share their thoughts on how art transcends simple visual manifestations, encompassing emotions, experiences, and thoughts that invite reflection.

Art is not a thing [...] what art is, is a something that we can describe with so many names, it is between something that is human and what we call metaphysical.”— Ana Lucía Barrientos

The speakers offer their own perspective through their opinions and experiences with art, showcasing a diversity of interpretations that reflect the different backgrounds and contexts of the participants. From appreciating beauty in everyday life to using art as a means of personal and social expression, the students illustrate how art manifests in their lives and academic formation.

The object holds the beauty, and this object creates an experience which is the same for everyone, but the interpretation of this experience is subjective, it’s of the individual.” — Camila Quesada

Furthermore, the discussion includes a historical overview of art, highlighting its evolution over time. The speakers examine various artistic movements and how they have influenced contemporary perceptions of art. This historical perspective provides a better understanding of art's roots and transformations, offering a framework to appreciate its development and impact on society.

Art began with a seed, which sprouted from human nature, its roots being reason and sense.” — Eileen Köhler

Finally, the conversation delves into the cultural impact of art and its creative process. The speakers analyze how art influences and is influenced by culture, acting as a mirror that reflects and shapes values and beliefs. They also discuss the techniques and processes involved in artistic production, from initial inspiration to the final piece. This exploration underscores the importance of art as a form of communication and expression, emphasizing its capacity to connect people and provoke changes.
