Edward Lopez shares his insight in intellectual property regarding the fashion industry. Currently, this particular industry is not protected with copyrights in the United States, resulting in a cascade of copying, situation of which people with less economic power take advantage of. Nevertheless, fashion design artists are not in favor of it. Lopez, however, believes that copying is not necessarily bad, suggesting it has economic functions and addresses the issue of the process of adaptation and wearability, by which entrepreneurs take ideas from a runway and present to the public a garnment to which they can relate to, notwithstanding, if copying rights are passed, this would represent a loss due to unaffordability, for most people interested in fashion.
