Dale Stephens, author of the book Hacking Your Education, talks about his experiences, after he dropped out of school at the age of twelve and became an unschooler, he found a group of young people sharing the same problems and ideas of traditional education and its application to the real world. Stephens points out some of the disadvantages of attending college such as the tuition costs in the United States, the average debt per student after graduation, and the value of college degrees, among others. In January 2011, Stephens launched UnCollege.org, a social movement that aims to change the idea of traditional higher education. UnCollege provides resources for students to guide them for a self-directed learning. Finally, Stephens highlights the importance of decentralized education and concludes encouraging the audience to be responsible to educate themselves.
