Commencement Speech Education Liberty UFMAt the ceremony for honor graduates of Universidad Francisco Marroquín, Elena Leontjeva delivered an inspiring speech directed at both graduates and their parents. The speech began with the acknowledgement of the importance of the event and all of the graduates’ achievements until that moment.
Leontjeva then proceeded to highlight three key principles for success in life. The first principle she discussed is the importance of serving others as a means of achieving personal growth and self-discovery. The second principle she emphasized is the integration of professional knowledge with practical wisdom, a philosophy instilled at UFM alongside an understanding of market dynamics. The last principle is that this blend of practical wisdom and professional excellence will equip individuals with the necessary knowledge to live in harmony with themselves and others.
With professional excellence you can achieve the highest part of the standard of living which is peace; you will be a peaceful person, peaceful with others, and peaceful with yourself.” — Elena Leontjeva
According to Leontjeva, this understanding is crucial for exploring the complexities of the world and creating meaningful relationships that go beyond economic transactions. She claims that not many professionals have this quality, which can be hard for them to communicate with others outside the work environment.
By expressing gratitude towards the parents for their sacrifices, Leontjeva encourages the graduates to uphold values of love, sacrifice, peace, and liberty as they move forward in their professional and personal lives. She motivates the students to hold onto these values and apply them to their futures, by helping others and being supportive to the people that surround them. By urging graduates to embrace service, knowledge, and wisdom, she emphasized the interconnectedness of personal success and contribution to the community.
Only by serving others can you advance yourself." — Elena Leontjeva
Additionally, Leontjeva highlighted the role of the market as a platform for exchange, where friendships can be forged and mutual benefits happen. She claims that understanding this dynamic is essential for creating a positive outlook towards the world and embracing the different opportunities for growth.
This is a great day to follow the example of your parents and to carry on the love, the sacrifice, peace and liberty as you go forward out of the university.” — Elena Leontjeva
Leontjeva encouraged the graduates to carry these principles with them as they take steps forward on their respective journeys, whether they want to focus on their professional careers, starting families, or contributing to their communities. Leontjeva's speech worked as a strong reminder of the values and principles the UFM has, all of which have to now be applied in their professional lives.
