Daniel Klein expounds the ethical outlook of Adam Smith by using as reference his book The Theory of Moral Sentiments that underpins Smith's philosophy regarding the Self. He points out in detail different concepts from the book such as the two sets of virtues, the social ecology of symphaty, the spiral of the human being, among others. He proceeds to address the topic of the parcial spectator and the man within the breast. He suggests that this analysis of virtues has a deep classical liberal undercurrent. Klein explains what commutative justice is and it's relation with equal-equal and superior-inferior relationships. He regards that an active moral agency will awake our humanity.
