Barbara Oakley explains how she went from mathematically illiterate to writing a New York Times bestselling book on how to learn math. She also talks about creating the world's most popular massive open online course (MOOC) and how such courses are revolutionizing education, especially in developing countries. Oakley then shares her thoughts on using MOOCs and other educational tools to teach freedom. She also talks about one of her other big interests – pathological altruism – and why our eagerness to help others can have the opposite result.
